Grants: Developing the RFP Outline & Writing the Need Statement (practicum)
Presenter: Laura Webb. Laura Webb is Resource Engagement Coordinator at Walden Behavioral Health. Trained as an adult and community educator and writer, Laura has worked to strengthen communities and not-for-profit organizations for 18 years in Pennsylvania, Georgia and Maryland. Laura has written successful grants to numerous private foundations, SAMHSA, HRSA, OVW, GOCCP, and the Office of Juvenile Justice. Laura is also an experienced presenter and certified instructor of Mental Health First Aid, Youth Mental Health First Aid, CCAR Recovery Coach Academy and Risking Connection.
Description: This course is a hands-on practicum in how to approach a large grant by creating an RFP outline to guide you and break out the pieces in manageable segments. You will also learn to write the components of writing a compelling story for your needs statement, and work in small breakout groups. You will leave with a draft outline and a draft needs statement that can be used in your organization's grants. Computer lab - bring a thumb drive so that you can take notes and create and record your documents. Jan 16, Grant writing: an overview, is recommended as a preliminary to this course. Other grant writing practicums April 3 and 10 round out your grant writing expertise.
